The New York Times reports on the latest from Amazon: A Chance to Meet the Author Online
Amazon is one of the many players in the publishing business trying to find new ways to increase the visibility of authors at a time when book sales are flat and other forms of entertainment are commanding ever-greater portions of the public's wallet. Most publishers have extensive author information on their Web sites, and a number of authors maintain their own sites, some quite elaborate.Part of what makes working at Ben Yehuda Press so much fun is that we get to deal with the incredible people who write the books we publish. We're convinced that people like Judith Abrams, Shefa Gold, Nati Helfgot and Lawrence Bush -- to name just a handful -- are treasures, waiting to be discovered by readers and the Jewish community.
Our challenge, as publishers, is to help everyone else find out what we already know. And if blogs, video, or speakers bureau will help, why, we'll try them all.
