Micha Odenheimer is a contributing editor for the Jerusalem Report magazine. He has had stories published in Washington Post, Foreign Policy, London Times, The Guardian, UPI, Jerusalem Report, Jerusalem Post, Tikkun, Jewish Forward, Ha’aretz, Maariv, Eretz Acheret Magazine and other magazines and newspapers.
Following high school in California, Odenheimer completed a B.A. in Religion at Yale University in 1980. He received Rabbinic Ordination from Mesifta Tiferet Yerushalayim in New York City and was a close disciple of the Hasidic teacher, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, 1982-1995.
Odenheimer was the Founding Director of Israel Association for Ethiopian Jews (1993-1998) and currently serves as Chairman of the IAEJ Board, the only Ethiopian Israeli advocacy organization and a catalyst for widespread changes in the absorption policies of the Israeli government.
In the course of his work as IAEJ director, he was featured in two columns by News York Times columnist William Safire, appearing on CNN, NBC, ABC and BBC. He was quoted in Time Magazine, Newsweek, New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and many other media outlets.
Until recently he has taught at Kolot Institute, a training program for Israeli leadership and has been guest lecturer at Yakar, Pardes Institute, Shalom Hartman Institute, the Wexner Leadership Program and other institutions and programs of Jewish learning.
